Third Party Thoughts

Devotional by Mama Sue aka Sue West
The believer’s thought life is under constant assault. The mind, at times, feels like a battleground-where principalities and powers attempt to invade the peace and calm assurance of God’s people.
When we allow these intrusive thoughts to take root, we become filled with doubt, discouragement, and often fall into depression. The enemy’s objective is clear: to crush the faithful with fear.
The enemy’s tactics haven’t changed. Just as he deceived Eve in the garden of Eden with those infamous words-
“Hath God said…?”
-he comes to you the same way today:
“Has God really said He would supply your needs?”
“Has He really said He will save your household?”
“Will He really feed you all your life until you’re with Him?”
Yes. God has really said those things.
And He has never made a promise He cannot keep.
It’s the third-party blabbermouth-Satan-who endeavors to fill our minds with lies about the tender, loving care of our Heavenly Father.
Winning the Battle of the Mind
To overcome this battlefield, we must:
• Feed on the Word of God daily
• Submit our lives to the One who laid His down for us
The third-party nuisance works hard to make God look like an unfaithful Creator-trying to steal our hope, dreams, and most importantly, our faith.
But Scripture gives us the remedy:
“Gird up the loins of your mind…”
(Guard your thought life—overthinking will destroy your peace.)
“Be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
—1 Peter 1:13
And Isaiah confirms the lifelong faithfulness of our Lord:
“Even to your old age, I am He…
And even to gray hairs, I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
—Isaiah 46:4
Hold the Promise Close
Let us learn to dispute the lies and resist the negativity of the third party by standing unwavering on the promises of God.
If God said it,
you can take that promissory note to the bank of Heaven
and cash it in.
God is not a man that He should lie.
Numbers 23:19

This is exactly what I’ve struggled with this year. Thank you for the insight.
Beautiful!!!
